Privacy policy
- RUN12 stores everything on your iPhone and Apple Watch. There is no account and no RUN12 server.
- We, the developer, do not collect, receive or see your data. Nothing is sold, shared, used for advertising or used to track you.
- RUN12 reads only the Apple Health types you allow, and writes to Apple Health only what this policy lists.
- You can export everything or delete everything from Profile → Your data.
Who we are
RUN12 is published by Zimmerman Legacy Holdings, LLC ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy go to help@run12.app.
What RUN12 stores, and where
RUN12 keeps the following on your devices only, in the app's own storage, which iOS protects with your device passcode:
- What you tell RUN12: your goal, experience, available days and time, preferred units, the safety questions you answer during setup and before a run, post-run and next-morning check-ins (effort, fatigue, pain location, side and severity, walking comfort, illness, optional notes), and workouts you log by hand.
- What RUN12 works out: your plan, each coaching decision with its reasons, sources and policy version, and the predictions shown under Profile → How well I read you.
- Workouts imported from Apple Health, and the record of each RUN12 Coach session (its steps, spoken cues, your answers and any adjustments).
- Settings and small preferences, such as which Apple Health types RUN12 has asked for.
Nothing on that list is sent to us or to anyone else. RUN12 does not use iCloud or any other cloud storage, contains no third-party code, and makes no network connections of its own. Your iPhone and Apple Watch exchange the day's plan and finished run records directly with each other, using Apple's WatchConnectivity.
Apple Health
RUN12 asks for Apple Health access with Apple's own permission screens. You choose which types to allow, and you can change that at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → RUN12. RUN12 works without Apple Health; you can log runs by hand.
What RUN12 reads, if you allow it
- Workouts (running, walking, hiking, cycling, swimming, elliptical, cross-training, mixed cardio) and their routes. A route is reduced on your iPhone to a point count and elevation figures; RUN12 does not store your location.
- Heart rate, distance, active energy, steps and running form measurements during those workouts.
- Resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep and walking asymmetry, as background context for coaching.
- The effort rating on a workout, and Apple's estimated effort for it.
- On Apple Watch, during a RUN12 Coach session: heart rate and distance for that session.
Heart rate and other readings add context. They never clear you to run when you have reported a symptom.
What RUN12 writes
- Runs you record with RUN12 Coach, saved as workouts with their real segments.
- Only if you turn on Profile → "Save my effort rating to Apple Health": the 1 to 10 effort rating you give a run, as that workout's Effort rating. It is your own number, never an estimate.
RUN12 never writes anything it did not measure or that you did not enter. Data from Apple Health is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, and is never disclosed to third parties.
Microphone
The microphone is used only by the Diagnostics screen on Apple Watch, when you start its five-second test, to measure your headset's audio route and signal level. Only the measured level is kept. The recording itself is discarded and never leaves the watch.
Notifications
Reminders after a run and the next morning are scheduled on your iPhone. Their text never mentions symptoms or health details. If you answer a reminder by dictation on Apple Watch, the words are turned into text by Apple's dictation, then read on your iPhone to prefill the check-in, which you confirm.
Apple Intelligence
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, RUN12 can add a plain-language rewording to the Why? explanation using Apple's on-device model. This runs on your iPhone; nothing is sent off it. The rewording never changes a decision. Turn it off in Profile → Plain-language rewording.
Sharing that you start
- Export: Profile → Your data → Prepare export creates a file of all your RUN12 data. It goes only where you send it with the share sheet.
- Diagnostics report: the Diagnostics screen can prepare a file describing device conditions and test results. It contains no health data and is shared only if you choose to.
- Email: if you write to us, we receive what you send and use it only to reply.
What Apple may share with us
If you have chosen in iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregate usage figures through App Store Connect. These do not include your RUN12 data. You control this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Deleting your data
Profile → Your data → Delete everything removes your plan, check-ins, decisions, imported workouts and pending reminders from your iPhone. Deleting the app removes them too. Neither touches Apple Health; manage Apple Health data in the Health app. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
This website
run12.app is a static site served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or trackers. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and protect the site, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Health information and safety
RUN12 offers training guidance, not medical advice. It does not diagnose, does not predict injury and does not clear you to run. If you have pain or symptoms that worry you, see a qualified clinician. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Children
RUN12 is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly receive information from anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal data. Because your RUN12 data stays on your devices, you exercise these directly in the app: view it in the app, change it in Profile, export it, or delete it. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in U.S. state privacy laws. If you have a question or complaint, write to help@run12.app; you may also contact your local data protection authority.
Changes
If RUN12 ever starts to send data off your device, we will update this policy and say so in the app before it happens. The effective date above changes with every revision.
